Augustana Regent is excited to once again host the Resident, Family and Staff Barbecue in 2017, celebrating the wonderful people who make our senior care community a great place to live. This annual free summer gathering will be held on Tuesday, July 11 from 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm at Augustana Care Regent in Burnsville, Minnesota and includes an antique car show, music, face painting and more.
The event kicks off with a short presentation by City of Burnsville Mayor, Elizabeth Kautz. Guest speakers throughout the event include Liz Everson, Co-Chair of the Augustana Care’s Mission Advancement Council; Augustana Care COO, Tim Middendorf; Augustana Care Regent Executive Director Vicki Tobroxen; as well as Mayor Kautz.
Each year, Augustana Care Regent of Burnsville includes a butterfly release during this annual summer event. The beautiful and touching ceremonial release of butterflies is in remembrance of former residents who have passed away. Family members, residents, and others have the opportunity to submit the name of a loved one to be read as the butterflies are released.
Tradition continues with the crowning of this year’s royalty. This is such a fun tradition with the crowned King and Queen representing Augustana Care Regent in several events throughout the year, such as the Dan Patch parade in Savage, Lakeville’s Pan-o-Prog parade, the Burnsville Fire Muster and our annual Holiday Tree Festival.
All of this is topped off by a delicious meal prepared by Director of Culinary Services Ricco Mejia. This year Chef Ricco will be preparing a pig roast as well as various salads, fruit and desserts.
Augustana Care Regent of Burnsville is looking forward to celebrating summer and all the people who make our senior care community a wonderful family to be part of! Hope to see you there!
