Face of Caring – May 2022
We’re thrilled to introduce Director of Nursing Sarah Coy, who works at Cassia’s Newton Village community in Newton, Iowa. We are featuring Sarah to celebrate National Nursing Week (May 6 to 12).
“Sarah puts her heart and soul into her work,” says Newton Village Executive Director Angela Adam. “She goes above and beyond to work diligently to serve residents and staff. Her hard work and dedication played a significant role in keeping staff and residents safe at Newton Village. She was successful in protecting her residents by encouraging staff to get vaccinated, ensuring excellent infection control practice and keeping high-risk situations at bay. Sarah is appreciated and respected by her staff, leadership and peers. Under Sarah’s leadership, Newton Village Health Center achieved the following:
- Became one of less than 2% of facilities nation-wide that have reached 5 Stars in All Domains
- Received a rare completely deficiency-free survey by the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA)
- Was awarded the Blue Ribbon in COVID-19 Vigilance Award for efforts made to prevent the spread of COVID-19
“Sarah is truly a very compassionate person,” says family member Julie Richtsmeier. “You can tell she loves what she does. She treats residents with so much care. We are just so fortunate my mom can be in Newton Village, with a staff led by such a wonderful human being such as Sarah.”
When asked why she comes to work every day, Sarah replies with a smile. “Because they let me,” she says. Sarah also tells us she loves working for an organization that aligns with her personal values.
“I love that they are the foundation for everything we do,” Sarah adds. “On a personal level, I was called to serve. I was given a servant’s heart that is full of compassion for those I serve and those I serve alongside.”
We are so honored that Sarah chose to be part of the Cassia family.
